To Restore
Integrated development center design in Mount Wutai Area
This project conducted research on the disappearing unique ambiance of spirituality at Mount Wutai, a sacred Buddhist site, amidst recent reconstruction efforts within the scenic area. By employing semi-structured interviews with monks, residents, and tourists, it was ultimately determined that the disruption of the interdependent spatial patterns between village and temple during the reconstruction process had resulted in the fracture of relationships among the monastic community. Consequently, this project aims to restore the distinctive monastic relationships at Mount Wutai by modernizing traditional Buddhist temple architecture and creating a sequence of spatial axes for monk and community interactions. This project has been nominated for the Outstanding Thesis at Taiyuan University of Technology.
